Two Cats And A Monkey

Once upon a time, two cats lived in a jungle near a small village. Both were good friends; they always slept, played, foraged food, and ate it together. One day, they had nothing to eat, so they decided to search for food in the adjoining jungle. Finally, after a long search, they found a piece of cake and brought it under a tree.┬áAt that time, each cat wanted to eat more cake than the other as both were feeling hungry. As a result, both cats started fighting for it. The first cat said, “I would eat first, as I saw it before you.” Immediately, the second cat replied, “No, I would eat first because I am much hungrier than you.”┬á

Meanwhile, a monkey sat on the tree, listening to the cats’ conversation. He thought, “It would be great if I got this cake and ate it all.” While thinking and staring at the cake curiously, the monkey was hit with an idea. It quickly came down and said, “Dear cats, please do not fight. Let me solve your problem. I have an idea.” At the cats’ request, he started telling them the idea by saying, “I will divide this cake into two equal pieces so that you will get the same amount of cake to eat.” After listening to it quietly and calmly, the cats agreed, feeling relaxed and happy.

Following his cunning scheme, the monkey instantly divided the cake into two pieces and said, “Oh no! both parts are not equal. Let me eat a bite from the larger part to balance both parts.” So he bit the most prominent part from it and eventually ate it. After that, he repeated the same lines, “Oh no! it is not equal again.” Now, he ate another bite of the cake. Cunningly, he kept doing this again and again and ate up the whole cake in a blink of a moment. At last, he laughed and quickly climbed back to the same tree, saying: “Foolish cats could not even have a single bite.”

At the same time, both silly cats looked at each other sadly and felt ashamed for fighting with each other. So they promised each other they would not fight again and always solve disputes with discussion.

Moral
When you quarrel and fight, you lose, and someone else benefits from it.
