Turkey - The Cultural Gateway Between The East And The West

Turkey has become a cultural gateway between the east and the west. The country embodies the glorified eastern culture fused with the robust western culture, making it a hub for international tourism. The traditions of Central Asia, Caucasia, Eastern Europe, Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East are all represented in the heavily diverse and heterogeneous combination of elements that make up Turkish culture.

Let\’s talk about Turkish people first! Turkish people are called Turks. They are full of life and warmth and are known to socialize frequently to make new friends. They are always welcoming towards the tourists and take it upon themselves to make the tourists feel comfortable. They never shy away from welcoming tourists into their homes and feeding them scrumptious Turkish cuisine. Turkish cuisine is famous all across the globe for its unique flavours and magnificent presentation. It is full of nutritious value, with many recipes based on the availability of fresh ingredients. All around the country, fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, dairy products, and meat are produced, resulting in highly nutritious and delicious cuisine.

You must have heard about Turkish tea and coffee. Turkish tea has a rich history dating back hundreds of years. Turkey ranks among the top five tea-producing nations, contributing between 6 and 10 per cent of global tea production. The majority of this is used domestically. Turks love tea and drink it frequently throughout the day. Turkish tea is not served in a cup but rather in intricate glass containers that show its beautiful colour.

As Turkey is an Islamic country, cleanliness is among the top ethos you will observe there. Although Turkish houses are primarily old, they are kept clean and washed to shine. The rule of cleanliness applies equally to all public spots, including parks, restaurants, banks, streets, train and bus stations, and almost every place you might think of.

Another exciting thing that deserves mention here is that it is customary to take shoes off before entering someone’s house in Turkey. This reflects the Turks’ commitment to cleanliness. In addition, the Turkish flag and national anthem are highly regarded. Whenever the national anthem is played somewhere, onlookers would stop, stand at attention, sing along, and then resume their course when it is finished. This elucidates the respect that Turks give to their national identities.

Nearly every area of the arts is represented in Turkey by well-known artists. As an illustration, Yasar Kemal is a renowned writer whose books have been translated into many different languages. Orhan Pamuk is a Nobel Prize-winning author. Filmmaker and multiple-award winner Nuri Bilge Ceylan is well-known throughout the world.
