This story is written by Gohar Ali Khan, a student of class 5.
Once upon a time, three friends, Ben, John, and Peter, decided to spend some time in one of their mutual friend’s mansion. It was situated in an old village. After a long journey, when they reached and tried opening the doors, they could not open one of them. They casually thought it might be jammed, but actually, there was a ghost inside.
After several tries, when they finally managed to go inside, Peter went to sleep in the living room with the jammed door. While sleeping, he had a feeling that somebody was about to hurt him. He woke up scared and checked the room thoroughly but found no one. He thought it must have been a nightmare.
The next day Ben and Peter went to get some groceries. John stayed back, using his laptop. Suddenly, he heard voices coming from upstairs. He went to check, but there was nobody there. When he turned to go back downstairs, something hit him in the head, and he fainted. When Peter and Ben came back, they could not find John anywhere, so they started looking for him everywhere. After finding him lying unconscious upstairs, they sprinkled some water on his face, and he told them everything once he had regained his senses. However, Ben didn’t believe it.
At night, Ben got up to drink water, feeling quite thirsty. It was odd because he never felt thirsty at night. He went downstairs to the kitchen and heard someone saying, “Get out of here! “This is my mansion. If you don’t leave, I will kill you!”
So, he quickly ran to Peter and Ben, woke them up, and told them what had happened. That was the moment when the three accepted what they were fearing, the mansion was haunted. Scared for their lives, they packed their luggage and decided to leave. But just as they were going to exit, the ghost appeared before them. He did not seem in a good mood. He exclaimed, “This is my mansion. I have lived here for over 50 years, and now because you three have disturbed me, I will kill you all.”
The friends ran for their lives; none had run this fast before. In a few minutes, they found a secret attic door and went to hide there. And after catching their breath, they decided to call somebody for help. Unfortunately, the internet connection was too weak to send messages, so the only option left was jumping from the attic window.
Although the attic was on the fourth floor, they had to make the leap, for it was the only way out. Thus, they started going through all the junk collected there. Luckily, there was an old rope in one of the crates. They tied one end of the rope with the bed and threw the other out the window to climb down. Moreover, they also found a can of kerosene oil and some match sticks, which gave Ben the idea to set the room on fire to distract the ghost and buy themselves time to escape safely.
Now, it was time for the execution. Ben sprayed the oil all around the attic, lit up the fire, and helped the other two and himself out the window. The three climbed down with the help of the rope very quickly because the rope would also burn down soon. Also, the fire and smoke got the ghost’s attention as expected. He came flying upstairs but found no one there.
On the other hand, the boys made a hasty escape. They called the firefighters and police, telling them all they had experienced. The fire was controlled, but the police found nobody inside.
The villagers say that the ghost still lives in the mansion. Still, they rarely hear any haunting voices now, for he is probably scared that his dwelling will be destroyed if he scares people.
