Once, there was a girl named Lily. She was very pretty, and her eyes were of blue colour. One day, her family was on a tour when they got themselves in a horrible accident. Unfortunately, Lily lost her parents and got injured badly, losing one of her legs.
At school, all her classmates started making fun of her. Nobody liked to talk with her, and when someone tried to speak, the children used to call them crippled too. So she thought of staying alone and not listening to her classmates or other school fellows. Because Lily’s classmates started to call her unblessed. She didn’t want to stay at school or enjoy other activities. Rather, she just wanted to run away from everyone around her and cried about that. She just wanted someone who could hold her hand and take her back to when she had her parents. Being an orphan was hard for her.
One of her teachers knew she was suffering hard and decided with the school principal to send her to an orphanage where she could be at least with the same children. At last, she was sent to an orphanage. Now all her hopes shifted towards being adopted by a loving family. But it turned out every couple who visited the orphanage wanted a perfect kid, and Lily knew that her flaw won’t let her get adopted by anyone.
One day, Lily was sitting in the garden with the warden, sharing how her mother used to hold her hand and kiss her forehead. She started crying silently, so no other kids would see her. Then Mrs Collen told her that someday she would also get a family to alleviate her pain, but Lily had lost all hope. Mrs Collen always sent Lily to her room when visitors came to the orphanage so that she wouldn’t get hurt for not getting adopted.
After some days, an old lady visited the orphanage. And while walking through the orphanage, she noticed a timid girl sitting alone in the corner. Being very soft-hearted, she went nearer and decided to talk to the child to make her feel better. As soon as Lily turned towards her, the old lady started weeping. It turned out she had lost her young daughter, Lily’s age and had the same eyes as Lily’s. Seeing Lily reminded her of her daughter, and Lily also found motherly affection in the old lady. Thus fate had decided; all the legal work was done, and Lily’s years of hopeless days and sorrowful nights came to an end.
While going home, Lily asked her new mother why she didn’t choose other kids and what special she saw in Lily that she ignored her disability. Her mother told her how she had lost her daughter 17 years back – a girl just like Lily, with her blue eyes and pink lips. She then apologized to Lily for keeping her waiting all those years and said, “I came for you, my child. Just like you always hoped somebody would come to give you love.”
The old lady hugged Lily and told her that she was the best thing that had ever happened to her, and Lily also smiled because she shared the feeling with the old lady.
