Can I submit my own stories to Storyious?

Unlike many open-submission websites, Storyious doesn’t simply allow anyone to upload content. Instead, it offers a more intentional path: one that supports quality, consistency, and the long-term development of a community built on trust and creativity.

To become a contributor, writers must go through a brief but important qualification process outlined on our Write for Us page. This is to ensure that everyone submitting stories is genuinely invested in storytelling, not simply publishing for visibility or traffic. We require that our contributors hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature, Linguistics, or a related field. This isn’t to create a barrier; it’s to maintain the language integrity and narrative quality that readers have come to expect from Storyious.

Storyious doesn’t operate like a self-publishing portal where content goes live without oversight. Every submission is reviewed by our editorial team, which evaluates the story’s originality, pacing, tone, emotional structure, and thematic clarity. We believe that stories, whether a quiet bedtime narrative, a moral reflection, or a dark psychological short, must be shaped with intent. That’s why we encourage writers to submit completed work that fits one of our main categories, such as Moral Stories, Scary Stories, Bedtime Stories, or 5 Minute Stories.

Writers are also asked to verify their identity. We do this to discourage ghostwriting, AI-generated content, and plagiarism, all of which can undermine the platform’s mission and reader trust. This verification step also fosters a sense of authorship, allowing contributors to build a lasting presence through their work. Once accepted, a writer’s profile is added to our Story Writers page, where readers can explore their stories, learn more about their background, and follow their work across categories.

Importantly, Storyious offers a chance for new and experienced writers alike to be part of a collaborative editorial process. If a story shows promise but needs refinement, our team may return it with suggestions rather than rejecting it outright. This feedback helps writers grow their craft and feel supported, not just assessed. It also ensures that every piece eventually published on the platform is consistent with the voice and values of the site.

We currently accept stories between 800–1500 words that fit within our existing categories.
