Keep your Environment Clean

This story is written by Maryam Khan Zakria, a student of class 7.

Once upon a time, a girl named Lobaba lived in a small village with her parents. She had no siblings; she was 10 and read in class 4th. She was very well-mannered. One day, she got up early during the holidays and went to the washroom. Then, she returned to the room, took a towel, dried her face, and saw the wall clock. She was surprised that she had gotten up at 6 A.M. So, she excitedly went outside to experience the morning breeze.

She felt quite relaxed when she put her bare feet on the grass. The sky was a beautiful hue of blue, and white clouds were floating like cotton balls. It was so blissful.

Meanwhile, her mother, Zara, was working in the kitchen. When she saw her daughter up so early, she called her in, surprised by Lobaba’s morning walk. Lobaba went into the kitchen and hugged her mother, saying, “Good morning, Mom!”

“Good morning, my dear”, her mother replied, “you’re up so early!”

Lobaba smiled and asked her mother, “Mom, does the morning start like this every day?”

“Yes, my child, it does. It is clean and refreshing outside. And more importantly, the fresh environment is really good for our health.”

Lobaba was amazed to hear that. She exclaimed sadly, “But mom, when I go to school, there are piles of waste and dirt everywhere.”

Her mom replied, “If you want the environment to stay clean like this, you should ensure that you don’t spread filth and dirt and keep the road, your house, and your street clean. Moreover, you should also work on personal hygiene to stay safe from diseases.”

Lobaba got excited and jumped up, “Yes! , Mom, I will do this and share this important message with my friends.”

Her mother smiled, “Ok dear, that is a really nice thought. Now, you change your clothes, and I will bring your breakfast.”

Lobaba, being a good and respectful girl, always used to fulfil her promises. So, throughout her school, college, and university life, she participated in cleanliness campaigns, awareness walks, and seminars. Not only this, she pursued environmental studies at university. She became a well-known environmentalist, earning an appreciation award from the World Health Organization.
