Once upon a time, a rich farmer named Kareem lived in the village and was fond of amassing wealth. He had a best friend, Faizan, who helped him on his route to becoming wealthier. Both friends worked in joint fields. One day, Faizan got ill with a severe headache and a high fever. He could not even stand on his feet. So he asked his best friend, “Kareem! Will you take care of my fields during my ailing days?” “Sure, why not? After all, you are my brother,” said Kareem. Then, his best friend told him, “Today, a man will come to you and give you a bag. Kindly take care of it and hand it over to me later”. Kareem had an intuition of something fishy, but he reassured his best friend not to worry. When the aforementioned man gave him the bag, he was veritably excited to see inside the bag. Finally, when he looked into it, something shone in Kareem’s eyes. Surprisingly, the bag was full of gold coins that stunned Kareem. Inclined towards accumulating wealth, Kareem became greedy and decided not to give the bag to his friend. Instead, he went to the city in search of business. In addition, he sent Faizan a letter saying that he could not get the bag and had to leave for the city to cater to a family emergency.
On his way, he passed through a river. While crossing its bridge, the bag, full of gold coins, fell into the river. It disappointed the greedy man because the water was so deep, and he could not swim. He sat there and started crying. Meanwhile, an innocent man passed by him and asked him the reason for his weeping. He replied, “I had a bag full of gold, which fell into the water, and I can’t progress.” Immediately, a trick popped into Kareem’s mind, and he offered the innocent man, “If you help me get it, I will reward you with half the gold in that bag.” The innocent man felt very happy and somehow managed to pull out Kareem’s bag. As soon as he saw the bag, Kareem came up with another scheme. He plotted to save the money and, thus, accused the man of stealing before the latter could even ask for his promised reward. Later, he demanded that the man return the stolen diamond or pay the penalty for it. The decent man got shocked after hearing this. Soon, other people gathered there, and the matter went to court.
When the judge heard all the arguments, he reached the point that the bag was so stuffed with gold coins that not even a single coin could be placed in it anymore. It was also proved by presenting the bag in the court in front of all the people. In the end, the judge concluded that the bag would be given to the innocent man as compensation for defamation. On the other hand, Kareem regretted it as he was left with nothing, not even his best buddy.
