The hack for the 3 times table starts by drawing out a 3 by 3 tic-tac-toe grid.
Now we can start with the one digits. First, we go to the bottom left box and write down the numbers from 1 to 9, starting in the left-most column and going forward to the right-most column, but this time, we are going to go up from the bottom box to the top of every column. Then we write a 0 to the right of the bottom row.
Now for the tens digit, we are going to split this up into 3 sections ÔÇô top row, middle row and bottom row. For the tens digit in the top row, we write 0 in the three boxes.
For the tens digit in the middle row, we write 1 in the three boxes.
Then for the bottom row tens digits, we will write 2 in three boxes, and then we write a three next to the 0 which is at the right of the bottom row.
You know that 3 times 10 is 30. So, you have the three times table. This is a great method to memorize these tables.
