Always Be Steadfast During Difficulties

It is always important to remember that this life is a temporary stop. It is a vapour that appears for a bit and then vanishes away. Our life can never be perfect. Nobody is free from hardships. Even the Prophets and messengers were tested with trials, but they always remained patient. So likewise, there would be many ups and downs in our lives. In such moments, we should believe in Allah like our great leader and hero Prophet Muhammad (SAW) did.

The Holy Prophet SAWW used to react peacefully to challenges. For instance, his uncle and wife died the same year, and he was also subjected to physical abuse by the people of Makkah the same year. In addition, his companions were tortured, and life was made difficult for the Muslims. But even after all these challenges, the Holy Prophet SAWW remained steadfast and migrated to Medina, according to Allah’s will. Still, his life didnÔÇÖt become a bed of roses, but he never gave up and displayed steadfastness.

In the same way, Prophet Yunas AS also faced a difficult time in his life. By order of Allah, a whale attacked him while he was returning from Nineveh in a ship. The passengers of that ship decided to throw one person out for the whale. They drew out names for the purpose, and as a result, Prophet Younus’ AS name was drawn out. Therefore, he threw himself into the sea. However, by Allah’s order, the whale, even after swallowing him, kept him safe. Inside the whale’s belly, the Prophet AS thought he was in a grave, but suddenly, he realized he was inside the massive animal. Deep in the whale’s stomach, he prayed to the Almighty for three days. After three days, the fish spewed him out on a shore. Although Prophet Yunas (AS) had become very ill, he continued praying, and Allah kept him under His protection.

Likewise, Prophet Ayub AS, another great prophet, remained patient when facing complex life challenges. Prophet Ayyub (AS) was a very wealthy man. He owned land, farms, and cattle. But at 70, a severe illness took over him, and only his wife sincerely stood by him then. He always remembered Allah during that test and never questioned His mercy. He stayed patient and grateful and prayed, “Difficulty has certainly afflicted me, and You are the Most Merciful of those who show mercy”.
