You Can Do It!

Once, there was a football match in a school. Ali, the most brilliant student in his class, though not good at sports, decided to participate in the game. Unfortunately, Ali’s team couldn’t perform well, and they were near to losing the match. Suddenly, Ali heard a boy shouting, “You can do it”. In response, Ali said to himself, “Yeah, we can do this”, to boost up his team’s morale. Now, they were trying not to defeat the opponents but their own hopelessness. Luckily, they got many opportunities due to the penalty on the other team, and they won the match. When he went back home, he told the whole story to his mom. And at the end of the story, he said, “If I hadn’t heard the voice, I may have not performed today.” His mother told him that this is how our small acts words can add value to others’ life.┬á

The following day, when Ali went to his class, he decided to sit with Ahmed, an eight years old boy. Ahmed had difficulty in learning, and his writing speed was very slow; moreover, he had been in the same class for 2 years. When every student was doing his classwork, Ali said to Ahmed, “Can I copy your work as I can’t see the board?” Ahmed was surprised and thought that Ali might be making fun of him as Ali is the one who is always the first to complete his tasks. However, when all the kids were done with their tasks that day, Ali observed that Ahmed still had work left. So he said, “Ma’am, we are not done. Can you please wait 2 more minutes?” and whispered to Ahmed, “Ahmed, you can do it.” Ahmed smiled at Ali, picked up his pencil, and started writing again. The classmates and the teacher were surprised at first, but then the whole class, along with the teacher, realized Ali\’s true intentions. A time came when no one said, “Done Ma’am” until Ahmed had finished his work.┬á

After a few months, the whole class was trying to keep themselves at pace with Ahmed. It was June 7 – the final result day – and the whole class was anxiously waiting for Ahmed’s result when they received a message from Ali in the class WhatsApp group, “Guess what? We did it!”
